The Waterside Bar & Restaurant
The Waterside bar & restaurant is located is next to the church on Allison Greene. Their restaurant offers a casual dining experience, with an eclectic menu that sources local produce and uses only the freshest ingredients, there is something to suit all tastes.
Alternatively relax in the bar in with one of their signature cocktails, or enjoy one of their loose leaf teas and some home baking.
The Waterside also boasts an impressive outdoor area which is a sun trap, ideal for al fresco dining.
The Old Smiddy Coffee & Gift Shop
Nestling in a cosy neuk just off Green Street is one of Strathaven’s little gems. A quiet relaxing place to meet with friends or escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life or simply just to relax and reflect and enjoy some refreshment.
Choose from their range of speciality coffees and superb homemade scones cakes and tray bake or for a light lunch, treat yourself from their extensive menu of soups, baguettes, paninis, and much much more.
You are welcome to eat either in the sunny conservatory or outside on the terrace on the banks of the Powmillon Burn as it winds its way from Strathaven Park through the village.
Barn Street
Delicious hand-made food and cakes by award-winning chef Craig Ferguson. Their specials menu is influenced by the seasons and some of their produce comes direct from their own garden. You can bring your own bottle with just a small charge for corkage. Their sunny, secluded terrace is south-facing, over-looking the park and is the perfect spot for an al-fresco lunch.
Alexander Taylor Cafe
An artisan café which serves delicious breakfasts, lunches or early tea. All their food is made with freshly-baked products and locally sourced ingredients. High quality food, freshly baked on the premises. Currently 6th generation, the business has been owned and run by the Taylor family for 200 years.
Roasted
The home of speciality coffee, food, catering and cookery classes. Suppliers and ingredients have been chosen with highlight Scottish producers from the milk dude (Bryce@Mossgiel), to the egg lady (Anne@Corrie Mains Farm), to the flour guy (Angus@Mungowells) and not to forget the mad professor of coffee (Alistair@Home Ground Coffee). The aim of Roasted is to use as much organic produce as possible. As for plastics, disposables come from Vegware and are completely 100% compostable.
The Strathaven
The Strathaven bar is the perfect place to enjoy great food in their restaurant or just relax with a drink in their bar or beer garden. This is a modern local bar which serves great food and has regular live music and events! It was nominated as a finalist in the Scotland’s Best Pub category in the 2020 Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards!!
As well as fantastic food they offer fine wines, craft lagers and beers, a fine selection of gins and vodkas and a wide range of whiskies as well as tea and coffee. For entertainment there is BT Sports shown on large screen TV’s and regular live music and entertainment.
The Strathaven also has a private function room for meetings, or decorated for special birthdays or events
The Drawing Room
The Drawing Room is a newly opened neighbourhood Cafe/Bar/Gallery nestled in the heart of Strathaven. In a very short period of time they have established a very loyal customer base in the local community and beyond.
Example food included: Caprice Salad; Moules (mussels) Mariniere; Vietnamese Spicy Beef PHO, slow cooked brisket in a noodle broth……All served with fresh baguettes; Home Smoked Mackerel Pate, our Beetroot & Orange Chutney, Dressed Pea Shoots and Oatcakes; Mussels in a Thai Broth simply served with a big chunk of bread; Hot Smoked Salmon, Asparagus, Crushed Potatoes & our own hollandaise
